Home/I Saved the Villain and Fell Asleep/ch 53

Chapter 53

When I silently pulled out my club, Sier—apparently feeling guilty about something—scooted back to the corner of the bed.

"You remember me telling you about the Mountain God, right?"

"The tiger? I remember."

"Yeah. Besides the subspace for objects, there's also..."

I lowered my voice to a whisper, even though no one else was listening.

"Space for magic too."

"What?"

Sier's eyes widened as he quickly leaned closer.

"You can store magic? So it's not just storage—it's usable? You can actually use it?"

"Yeah. By putting it in here."

I pointed to the golden gems embedded in my club.

"Any kind of magic? No restrictions?"

"As long as it's not a passive magic that only applies to the user's body, like Irein's!"

Infusing magic into a tool turns it into a magical artifact. Most artifacts are single-use, and reusable ones come with astronomical price tags.

Examples include the age-transformation bracelet Irein got me, or the appearance-altering artifact Kali wears.

Crafting artifacts is also extremely difficult—the materials vary depending on the magic, and the smaller the artifact, the more limited the magic it can hold.

"Good heavens."

The reason Sier was shocked was because my Goblin Club can store any type of magic, regardless of its properties—fire, wind, electricity, anything!

And three slots at that!

"It's single-use, right? Surely it's not reusable?"

"That's what I don't know. So, Brother, let me borrow your magic."

Sier's unique magic is fog. Since using fog indoors wouldn't cause any problems, I came to him first. I couldn't exactly go around shooting fire inside the house.

"Come here. Let's do it!"

Sier, even more excited than me, grabbed the club.

"How do I do it?"

"Hmm, put your finger on the top golden gem and infuse mana?"

Even with my vague explanation, Sier understood perfectly.

A silvery glow spread from Sier's finger. Normally, a magic circle would have clearly formed, but instead, the light kept brightening and fading.

"Uh? Bro! What does it feel like right now?"

"Like it's absorbing? How far does this go?"

"Stop for now!"

Sier pulled his hand away from the club. The infused gem was subtly shimmering compared to the empty ones.

"How much did you put in?"

"Hmm, it felt so interesting being absorbed that I put in quite a lot."

Quite a lot? Sier is someone with an enormous natural mana capacity. And by his standards, "a lot"?

"Wh-how much?"

"Enough to cover the ducal castle..."

"The ducal castle?!"

"...about five times over?"

"What?! Are you crazy, Brother?! Are you okay? Dizzy? Nauseous?"

I grabbed Sier's shoulders and shook him hard.

What kind of madman dumps that much mana in for a test?!

"Agh, you're making me more dizzy, Hari."

I let go of Sier and gripped the club with both hands. Is there really no limit to how much magic it can hold?

I swallowed hard and stared at the glowing golden gem.

"How you use my magic depends entirely on how you apply it."

"Apply it?"

"Obscuring vision is basic. You can spread fog anywhere to pinpoint locations—great for detecting intruders. You can also compress the fog to grab them. Though the destructive power is pretty weak."

My heart pounded. Not just swinging the club, but being able to use other magic—that alone was thrilling.

"Oh, and... Hmm, this might not matter. Not sure."

"What?"

"My unique magic, well... it doesn't always listen."

"Your magic doesn't listen?"

"It's not a control issue—I'm past that age. It feels like it's half-alive. If you coax it gently, it listens well."

When Sier was young, like Kali, he often couldn't control his magic. On days he fell into deep sleep, his fog would activate on its own and run rampant through the house. That's why he often couldn't sleep deeply. I thought it was just because he had too much mana, but there was another reason?

"But since I'm not the caster—you are—just use it very lightly. Just a tiny bit."

My unique magic is just summoning and dismissing the club, so I didn't really understand what Sier meant. What does it mean for magic not to listen?

"Should I try it?"

I gripped the club with both hands and activated the magic stored in the first golden gem. Slowly, very gently.

After a moment, the long line running through the center of the gem wriggled, and with a splitting sound, it opened.

The golden gem had transformed—it looked like an eye opening.

"Ugh! Gross!"

At the center of the almond-shaped gem, I saw a round mass of fog that looked like a cloudy pupil. Mist began to flow slowly around me. I swallowed dryly and directed the fog to the left—and it followed my will.

"Wow, amazing! Your unique magic is really cool, Hari! You should also get Father's magic stored. And... Kaelen's wind magic would be great too! And for the last one... hmm, a defensive magic would be ideal, but most people in our family have offensive types—that's a shame."

I just stared blankly at Sier. He'd always been like this. Even when I threw tantrums and cried over my useless, ugly magic club, he'd tell me it was cool. Of course, I never listened no matter how much he tried to soothe me.

The Goblin Club's abilities are objectively overpowered. But in Sier's expression, there was only pure joy—no jealousy or inferiority.

"What about you, Brother?"

"Huh?"

"Your magic is defensive, isn't it?"

"Hmm, it's a bit ambiguous. Kind of in-between."

What is he talking about? Ambiguous? In-between?

Once you spread the fog, it disrupts the enemy's sense of direction, making it easier to escape or attack. What's so "in-between" about that?

"I sometimes wish I had an offensive-focused magic like Kali or Kaelen. Or something that completely severs mana flow like Father or Irein. My fog just disrupts the flow—that's all."

Again, I'm the only one frustrated! Why does everyone lack confidence in their own magic?

...Though I feel a bit guilty saying that! But I'm not the same Hariella I used to be.

"Obscuring the enemy's vision means you've already won half the battle, right? Plus, you can mess with their magic, hit them from behind, and even grab them with the fog! In-between?!"

Of course, fog doesn't have physical destructive power—but grabbing them is enough!

"I never thought you felt that way, Brother—waaah!!!"

What! What is this! Why is it doing this!!

Suddenly, Sier's shocked face was upside down—the world had flipped. Since Sier hadn't suddenly done a handstand, that meant I was flipped. Upside down!

Something was holding my ankle. I grunted and checked—the fog from my Goblin Club was coiled around my ankle.

"B-brroooother!!!"

The fog started moving violently, and I couldn't get my bearings. It was like riding a roller coaster without a seatbelt.

"Hari!!!"

I was just spreading the fog on the floor!! Why is it doing this?!

Remembering what Sier said earlier as the fog moved out of control.

"It doesn't always listen."

This is way beyond "doesn't always listen"! What is this?!

"Bibi! Eat this! Hurry! Nom nom!"

Bibi, already drooling and standing on the bed, lunged at the fog. But as if dodging him, the fog surged and burst out the door.

"Hey!! Where are you going!! Aaah!!"

I couldn't see properly from the violent shaking. I wanted to swing my club to stop the fog, but I couldn't get into position.

As I screamed loud enough to wake the whole castle, people started emerging from everywhere.

"Damn it!!"

Sier raised his own fog and pulled at the fog gripping me. As the two fogs struggled against each other, Sier shouted at me.

"Hari! Cut off the mana!!"

"I-I'm trying, but it's not working!!"

My unique magic is just summoning a solid club—I've never controlled something like fog before!

The fog created by my mana scattered wildly on its own. Why is it doing this all of a sudden? Calm down, Hariella. What was I thinking just now?

Was it because I said it has no physical destructive power? No, that's true... Agh!! First, let's try calming it down.

"Good fog! Why did you get angry all of a sudden? Huh?! You're the coolest and strongest fog in the world!! Let's calm down!"

Just then, the fog that had been gripping my ankle and shaking me wildly stopped moving. Was "strong" the magic word?

"Huff! It stopped. Phew, I thought I was going to die from how strong you are! You're such a powerful fog!!"

I never thought I'd live to see the day I'd have to soothe and praise fog like a sulky elementary schooler. I showered it with all sorts of flattery, and finally, it released my ankle and calmed down as if nothing had happened.

"What are you doing?"

Kali, who had rushed out of his room, ran over to me and pulled down my rolled-up skirt hem.

"I heard some crazy woman screaming in the middle of the night. And what's with this fog?"
