Home/The Ice Age Came? And I Just Got Married?!/ch 102
Chapter 102.
---
Logan suddenly looked up.
They were now in the underground level of Norton Manor—along with Aiden, Brian, and Graham, excluding Amelia.
Perhaps mistaking his quiet contemplation, Eve asked,
"Are you okay?"
His eyes caught her fair face.
"I'm fine."
In truth, he wasn't.
What had happened when Eve and Aiden were alone? What had they talked about?
Her gaze, her breath, every gesture—he wanted to know it all.
Logan knew this wasn't a normal feeling.
But he wanted her—to possess her. The urge was unbearable.
His gaze settled on Eve's clear eyes again.
How could he suppress such desire for someone so beautiful?
"Logan."
Eve called him.
"I don't know why, but you look uneasy again."
Then she took his hand firmly.
Logan looked down at their clasped hands.
It was maddening—even the touch of her fingers interlocking with his drove him crazy.
How could she be so perfectly his type in every way?
He was truly curious—about the Eve in his lost memories, their first meeting, how he had fallen for her.
"Here we are."
Aiden's voice came.
He extended his arm, pointing ahead.
There was the door leading deeper underground that he had mentioned.
It was distinctly different from the storage cellar—a thick iron door blocked the corridor's end, its surface covered in white frost.
But that wasn't all.
From a few steps away, the frost spread in a perfect circle on the floor—as if drawing a boundary line, warning not to come closer.
"This is where the anomaly begins."
Aiden stopped. He swallowed dryly and extended his fingertips.
The moment they brushed the boundary, white frost spread instantly across his hand.
He quickly withdrew. The frost vanished, but his fingertips remained stiff.
"Any closer, and you lose consciousness."
At Aiden's words, Eve fell silent, looking troubled.
Everyone looked at her—they all seemed to trust that she could open this door.
"...I'll try. I think I can open it."
Eve stepped forward. Logan instinctively reached out, then stopped.
He had only known Eve since meeting her in Acorn Village, but he had seen her power clearly.
She was special.
So he had no reason not to trust her.
She seems capable on her own.
He couldn't understand why people said he'd overprotected her before.
"It feels like the world keeps testing me, but it's always you who suffers from it, not me. I'm so sorry."
Eve had told him that on the way to Norton.
Still, he couldn't quite understand—there were too many gaps between them.
Just then, Eve reached out.
A red glow emanated from her hand—the Redstone's power.
It radiated warmth, brightening the surroundings as it rushed toward the frost-covered door—then faded weakly.
Nothing happened.
Eve blinked in surprise.
"Hmm—even your special power doesn't work here."
Aiden said, and Eve looked troubled.
Graham placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't feel pressured."
Eve tilted her head.
"It's strange—I was so sure I could open it..."
At that moment—
Sacrifice yourself for her.
The voice kept echoing in his ears.
Sacrifice? He had no interest in that.
But if he could do something in her stead—that was different.
Logan stepped forward, replacing Eve.
"Logan."
"Wait, Duke."
Before anyone could stop him—including Eve—he crossed the frost boundary and grasped the doorknob.
Crackle—
White frost instantly bloomed over his hand, spreading past his wrist to his forearm like creeping vines.
"Logan—let go! It's dangerous!"
Eve tried to stop him, but he didn't relent.
Focusing all his strength on opening the door, he gripped the handle tighter.
Then—
You wanted to save her, didn't you?
The voice piercing his ears grew clearer.
I helped because you seemed so desperate—
You should sacrifice yourself for her—
That's why I chose you—
Strangely, he felt no pain. Just relief that he could endure this cold in Eve's place.
"Logan!"
Eve called his name urgently.
The veins in Logan's arm bulged as he gritted his teeth.
Creak—
The frozen handle moved—just a little.
"It moved...!"
Brian's eyes widened in disbelief. Logan said nothing.
With each breath, his lungs felt like they were freezing—but he twisted the handle to the end.
Rumble—
From inside the iron door, a long-frozen mechanism began to stir.
Click—
With a heavy impact, the door pushed inward just slightly.
A wave of chilling air swept through the corridor like a storm.
"...It opened."
Brian muttered blankly.
Thump.
Logan's legs gave out—he dropped to one knee, his arm covered in white frost.
"Logan."
Eve calmly took his arm. Warmth spread from it—the Redstone's power.
The frozen arm began to thaw—just like his heart.
He looked up at her.
Her mouth was pressed shut as she healed him.
"I should be the one doing this..." she seemed to say.
"No—this is what I should do. Like I always have. I'm the one who should do everything to save you."
"Huh?"
Eve's eyes widened in surprise.
"What did you just say?"
Logan was also taken aback—he couldn't understand what he'd said either.
"Did your memory come back?"
"Unfortunately not—those words just came to me."
Eve's face fell, but she quickly masked her disappointment.
Logan felt a sudden jealousy of his former self.
The version of himself that she awaited so desperately—the one with all his memories.
Even though they were the same person, he felt an insane craving and envy.
But that feeling didn't last.
Creak—
The door he had opened swung fully—by itself.
Logan stepped inside first.
Eve followed.
The problem was what happened next.
Thump—
Graham, trying to follow, was blocked—as if by an invisible barrier.
The door was open, but an unseen force stopped him.
Only Logan and Eve could enter.
Graham pounded on the barrier, calling to Eve.
"Eve—are you alright?!"
Eve glanced at Logan, looking bewildered, and looked around.
Inside, there was nothing—except something glowing in the darkness.
"...A compass?"
She tilted her head in confusion, then turned back to Graham.
"Brother—I'm fine."
Reassuring him, she looked at Logan.
Logan nodded involuntarily—as if to say, don't worry, I'm here with her.
They walked toward the compass together.
"This must be the relic Graham mentioned—I can feel it."
Logan nodded.
He felt it too—the same presence he'd sensed from the voice whispering inside him.
Just then, Eve broke the silence.
"Logan—I want to tell you something."
He tilted his head—go on.
She blushed, looking embarrassed.
"If this really is the Heart of Frost, your memories might return... and I feel like I'd be too embarrassed to say this later, so I'll say it now."
What could she possibly be so shy about?
"We're newlyweds, right? So I want us to be... truly husband and wife. Not like friends."
Ha.
Logan let out a disbelieving laugh—Eve's face turned crimson.
To say that now?
"I'd rather not."
"Huh?"
"Why say that and make me jealous? You should do that with me."
"Why are you jealous of yourself?"
"Let's just date properly—you and me."
Logan pulled Eve by the waist.
