Home/The Ice Age Came? And I Just Got Married?!/ch 83
Chapter 83.
We could only hold that damned Snow Titan for a short while.
Soon it would recover and rise again—and while Logan fought it, everyone left here would be slaughtered.
After forming the solid ice spear, my fingertips trembled.
Even throwing it properly was too much.
"Logan!"
Catch it.
I hurled the ice spear with all my strength.
Logan caught it without looking back.
His eyes shot daggers at me—clearly cursing me with his gaze.
Then he gripped the spear. The tip aimed at the Titan's chest.
Distance no longer mattered.
The spear's point had already torn through thick hide and lodged between its ribs.
Through the torn flesh, I could see the Titan's inner body—and Logan inside.
CRUNCH—!
The sound of ribs cracking reached us.
SKREEEEE—!
A roar so intense it shook the air.
He hadn't broken the ribs, but he'd pried them apart. Blood poured down.
Logan pushed himself between the ribs without hesitation—like a man who'd killed this beast countless times before.
Swoosh—
The sword cut through muscle with a dull sound. Once—and again.
The Titan's massive body convulsed in its final rebellion.
With each attempt to rise, one of Tony's stakes bent.
Crack.
Crunch.
Just hold on a little longer.
I gritted my teeth.
How much time had passed? Only a few minutes—but it felt like an eternity.
Then—
Squelch—
Dark red blood gushed from the Titan's chest like a fountain.
The next moment, a black shadow leaped out from between the ribs.
Logan.
In his left hand, he held a black Winterstone, soaked in blood.
He jumped down and ran straight to me.
His breath was ragged.
The bloodstained Winterstone slipped from his hand and rolled across the snow—Marcus quickly picked it up.
My legs gave way, and I collapsed forward.
Just before I hit the ground, a warm embrace caught me—Logan's arms wrapped around my waist.
Unlike usual, when he held me as if I might break, now he held me tight, as if afraid to let go.
His fingertips trembled.
"It's over."
The moment he spoke, the Titan's massive body crumbled.
The carousel and parade waiting room were crushed beneath it—but everyone had already evacuated, so there were no casualties.
"Wow."
Someone gasped in awe.
That was the start.
"WOOOO!"
"We did it!"
"Damn—we actually did it!"
CHEERS—!!
Some were crying. Most had frostbitten, blue-tinged skin.
After a while, I felt better and sat up in Logan's arms.
I looked at the black Winterstone in Marcus's hand—and saw Clare and Leon approaching with a similar black stone.
It was from the clown monkey.
Both looked just like the Heart of Frost.
"By the way, Eve—there's something else you need to see."
Logan whispered in my ear.
"Something I need to see?"
At my question, Logan lifted me by the hips—startled, I wrapped my arms around his neck.
He quickly leaped onto the dead Titan.
"Eve!"
"Junior!"
I waved to the others to show I was fine, then followed Logan down between the ribs.
Huh?
As he said, there was something strange—a mark engraved inside the ribs.
A snowflake-shaped emblem formed a circle, with a single name in the center:
WHITE VEIL
No. 12
The number suggested...
I recalled the snow monsters experimented on at the Ice Age Research Institute.
So they were test subjects after all?
More than that, the name "White Veil" wasn't unfamiliar.
"They say the 'White Veil' is manipulating the weather to create a second ice age and control the world. That kind of rumor—a conspiracy theory."
I remembered what the ghost soldiers at the naval base had said.
A shadowy organization with no substance.
As I'd said before, even I knew this conspiracy theory before the ice age—rumors that it was a plot by forces opposing the royal family.
"Since no one knew who founded the research institute or who gave the orders, those conspiracy theories spread even more."
The ghost soldiers had said that too.
Logan spoke.
"I never saw this in my past lives."
"Right—you lived the same life nine times, so why is this one so different?"
Logan didn't answer.
After a long pause, he said,
"It feels like an experiment too."
Looking at his words collectively, the nine lives he'd lived seemed somehow incomplete.
As if all those lives were just rehearsals.
Rehearsals? For what?
I shivered and rubbed my arms, looking at Logan.
His gaze was still fixed on the White Veil inscription.
"White Veil probably isn't this snow monster's name—maybe it's the name of whoever created it."
"I wonder if Graham knows anything about this name—or Julian's whereabouts."
Logan seemed to think Graham might know something too.
I nodded. It was time to have a proper talk with Graham.
Logan peeled off the inscribed hide.
Then we emerged from the Titan's body.
Outside, the survivors were cleaning up.
Lowell Amusement Park was truly in shambles.
The once-grand carousel was unrecognizably shattered, the Ferris wheel tilted and groaning.
Scorch marks and bullet holes were everywhere.
Dark red blood had flowed like a river across the white snow, and broken rides and iron structures lay scattered.
The survivors worked in silence—some helping the wounded, some pulling people from the ice, some quietly covering the faces of those who hadn't made it.
Haywood, Orange Market, and Tony's faction were all present—but the Lowell survivors were still nowhere to be seen.
Hmm—I never asked Frank where he was hiding everyone.
Creak—
A heavy iron door opened in the distance.
At the edge of the frozen artificial lake, a snow-covered mound slowly opened—and people began emerging one by one.
The problem was that they were waving frantically at us, their faces pale.
"Here! Over here!"
It looked like a drainage tunnel built to regulate the lake's water level.
Bang—
"Frank—Frank has a gun!"
Huh?
A gunshot rang from inside the tunnel.
"AAAH!"
Screams filled the air.
